The Covid-19 pandemic, racial reckoning, political unrest, and explosion of social media have significantly and irreversibly impacted the experiences children face today. Over the course of 6 weeks, youth ages 11-15 are welcome to show up just as they are.

In this group, founded on acceptance, respect, inclusion, and curiosity, these kids will form relationships and a network of social support. They will grow in their ability to navigate the wider world, attending to their internal compass, asking questions when the direction is unclear. They will learn the power of their voice and words, and equally the power of listening.

Learn

Together, develop a safe network of peers to explore the unknowns that lie ahead. Create a confident sense of self. Explore concepts of purpose and motivation. Improve communication with friends, family, teachers. Using yoga, art, play, music, reflection, and more, to ask the questions: “What about climate change?” “Why are my parents so mad about my phone?!” “What if I want to use They/Them?” “How much screen time is actually too much?” and everything in between.

Connect

How do you navigate the complex social world? What does it mean to be in relationship? What is a friendship? How do I know? How do I build them, tend them, grow them, or let them go? These tricky topics will be explored while we put to practice the skills we are learning together. The group will venture out into the community, taking Skills and Socializing on the road. Navigating the local social scene, coffee shops, museums, art exhibits, bowling, pottery, and others as part of social exposure and IRL learning opportunities. This outing event is chosen and designed by the group itself, it truly IS choosing your own adventure!
